FEROCITY
Ferocity had a lot to live up to when he embarked on a racing career.  But the striking grey fulfilled the expectations of everyone, recording outstanding wins in several quality events and surpassing the deeds of his famous sire Lion Hunter and proving to be the best male runner in the immediate family.
Ferocity, a winner three times and placed on four other occasions from his only 10 starts, bowed out of his racetrack career with an extraordinary record.
His victories included the Adelaide Magic Millions Classic at two-year-olds and the Ascot vale Stakes the following season, a race also won by superstars like Century, Vain and Encosta de Lago.
Ferocity has imparted his aristocratic looks and racing brilliance to his progeny and other members of his immediate family are also passing the winning gene, including his blood nephew Star Witness, successful in the 2010 Blue Diamond Stakes and Coolmore Classic.
Ferocity’s oldest progeny are three-year-olds and include the Melbourne winner Frenetica, Gentle Giant, African Mama and Flammable, which is one of the few juveniles to win both metropolitan tracks in Brisbane this season.

ALL BAR ONE
All Bar One had a career limited to 25 outings 14 of which landed him in the winner or placegetter stall.
Precocious speed was one of his finest assets.  But he matched it with courage especially if a race came down to a dog fight at the business end.
All Bar One scored on nine occasions in Australia’s racing hotspots of Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.  His resume included wins in such notable races at the Sir Byrne Hart Stakes at Group 2 level in Brisbane and the WJ Adams Stakes at Listed level in Melbourne and the Crown Trophy.
All Bar One also grabbed some Group 1 glory when placed third in the BTC Cup at Doomben and 5th in the William Reid Stakes under weight-for-age conditions at Moonee Valley.
All Bar One’s racetrack deeds are being replicated by the offspring of his first crop.  Before the three-quarter mark of the racing season, All Bar One has been represented by five individual juvenile winners including the Listed winner I’m The One.

CHATEAU ISTANA
Winning is everything in racing.  But it is hard to achieve.
It is even harder to achieve on both sides of the planet; this is a feat preserved for a rare few with special qualities.
Chateau Istana fits the bill on all fronts.
An imposing horse standing over a lot of ground, Chateau Istana raced with great success in England and in Hong Kong and was being readied for a Group 1 assignment in Australia before injury struck and forced his premature retirement.
Chateau Istana opened his winning account in a maiden event at Leicester in May 2004 and the following month stepped into the big league to win the 40,000 pound Royal Ascot Windsor Castle Stakes (5f) at Listed level.
Chateau Istana then captured the Group 2 Doncaster Flying Childers Stakes three months later.
The following year Chateau Istana was transferred to South-East Asia and opened his racing account in Hong Kong in November 2005.  As expected, he won and repeated the dose there four months later in March 2006.
Chateau Istana showed explosive speed in each outing and his racing prowess is matched by his Hollywood looks and eye catching bloodlines.

WICKED STYLE
Victory at Group 1 level is a common benchmark for success.  It is an easy and common measure throughout the thoroughbred world.  Almost everyone wants to breed to a Group 1 winner and everybody wants to acquire a Group 1 winner.
Such opportunities exist with Wicked Style, a son of the accomplished Macho Uno and studmate to Ferocity, All Bar One, Chateau Istana and Break The Vault.
Wicked Style, a career veteran of 17 starts won five times including the Group 1 Lanes End Breeders Futurity for two-year-olds over (1700m).
In the 2007 renewal at Keeneland, Wicked Style showed blistering speed to lead throughout despite having drawn the extreme outside barrier in a big field.
His barrier to box victory was not out of order, nor was it his sole black type success.  He had also taken the Group 3 Arlington Washington Futurity (1600m) before the Keeneland outing.
In all Wicked Style managed five race wins and was placed on another four occasions.  Importantly Wicked Style showed his talent on grass and synthetic surfaces, proving his versatility.

BREAK THE VAULT
What the racing public lost through the premature retirement of Break The Vault, the breeding industry gained in spades.  Break The Vault entered racing with the world at his mercy and he started to fulfil the expectations of a genuine blueblood with victories in his first four assignments.  Now he has the chance to live out his destiny as a breeding great.
But back to the beginning.
Trained by John Hawkes, Break The Vault was a race winner 1300m-1800m and was also placed at Listed level over the latter distance.
Hawkes maintained Break The Vault had the capacity to scale lofty heights and believed the entire was a champion in the making because of his blend of blinding acceleration, willingness and purpose.
Break The Vault’s famous family which includes such notables as Zabeel, Baryshnikov, Fashions Afield and Samantha Miss continues to feature in the news.  His relative Needs Further rocketed into black type glory on Sires Produce Day when he took the Carbine Club Stakes at Randwick.  He is from Crowned Glory, a close relative to Break The Vault through his dam Lady Giselle.
