Soft Sand and Psychologist completed a top day for fillies purchased at Inglis Yearling Sales with a late running double at Caulfield on Saturday.
Soft Sand (3f Dansili – Mizzle by Rahy) flew down the centre of the track to win the LR Kevin Hayes Stakes by almost three lengths over NZ star Anabandana.
The Colin Little trained filly had won a Bendigo maiden on debut in July. Her dam Mizzle was imported to Australia in foal to Dansili in January 2008. She made $160,000 when sold by Yarraman Park at the 2010 Inglis Easter yearling sale.
Mizzle has a yearling filly by Hard Spun and she foaled a Nicconi filly in September.
Dansili is a son of the legendary Danehill and stands at a fee of 65,000 pounds at Juddmonte Farms in England. His Group 1 winners include winner Rail Link (Arc de Triomphe) and Harbinger (King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes).
Psychologist returned to her sizzling best to take out the G3 MRC Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes at Caulfield. She won the 2010 MRC Blue Diamond Prelude on debut but has been a headache for connections in the last couple of seasons.
Psychologist (4m Choisir – Miss Conception by Danzero) proved she is still a top quality sprinter on her day. Trainer Tony Vasil selected her out of Session Two at the 2009 Easter Sale. He bought her from Bylong Park on behalf of Hong Kong based Chun Ngai for $120,000.
Bylong Park will offer her brother by Choisir as Lot 282 at the 2012 Inglis Easter yearling sale.
Earlier in the day at Caulfield, Australia’s superstar mare Black Caviar stretched her unbeaten record to 18 straight wins when taking out the G1 C.F. Orr Stakes over 1400m. Her blue-blooded half-sister by Redoute’s Choice will be offered at Easter as Lot 200
