Finniss filly first winner by Aztec Smytzer

Zip Delicious notched the first win for Aztec Smytzer at Murray Bridge on Wednesday.

The Finniss Lodge filly came from the back half of the field to win the Carlton Draught Marquee Maiden (1400m) by a half-length for co-trainers Wayne Francis & Glen Kent.

Francis and his wife Jenny have been strong supporters of South Australian racing over many years and they operate Finniss Lodge on 500 acres south of Adelaide.

Zip Delicious (3f Aztec Smytzer – Sea Finniss Zip by Delago Brom) descends from British bred mare Expulsion (Infatuation) who was sent to Australia by Stanley Wootton in the 1960s.  Her extended family includes Easy Rocking and Fair King Prawn.

Aztec Smytzer was purchased for $33,000 at the 2004 Adelaide Magic Millions and won 4 races up to 1600m for Makybe owner Tony Santic including the LR VRC Springtime Stakes and LR Seymour Cup.

A son of Singspiel, he is now used as a stallion for show horses after covering three small books at Finniss Lodge.
