The five day Melbourne Great Southern Sale starts on Monday, May 17 with the first of two weanling sessions highlighted by an exciting array of first crop stallions. Australian Group 1 winners Magnus, Shinzig and Testafiable all stand in Victoria, while Rosehill Guineas winner De Beers stands at Lindsay Park.
A number of international Group 1 winners have also called Victoria home for their southern hemisphere stints and the likes of Any Given Saturday, Hard Spun, Hat Trick, Host and Soldiers Tale have their first Australian progeny at next week’s sale.
“Vendors have provided a wonderful response to this year’s sale and thanks to their support, we have assembled an excellent catalogue,” Inglis Director Peter Heagney said. “The Great Southern Sale is quickly earning a reputation for delivering on the racetrack, with Group 1 AJC Sires Produce Stakes winner Yosei a shining example this season.”
There were 393 weanlings in the original catalogue, with the supplementaries taking the figure past the 400 mark. The Great Southern Sale continues on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next week with broodmares, stallions, racehorses, yearlings and unbroken stock.
