First winner by Kuroshio

Darley Victoria resident Kuroshio sired his first winner in Alice Spring on Saturday.

His first-starter Savatoxl scored by the best part of four lengths in the Inglis Hcp (1000m) at Pioneer Park.  Part-owned and trained by Bill Savage, the 2yo colt sat outside the leader and cleared out in the straight for apprentice Lorelle Crow.

Savatoxl is from NZ-bred mare Li’l Miss Hayley (Savabeel) who has already foaled Moonee Valley winner Karpacz (Danzero) and Singapore winner Southern Chief (Shaft)

Bred in Victoria by Carrington Park owners Mark and Sheryl Atkinson, he sold for $8,000 at the 2017 Melbourne VOBIS Gold Sale.  Bought by the Alice Springs Turf Club, he later made $18,000 at the Inglis Red Centre Sale.

Savatoxl is the 4th first-crop starter by Kuroshio (Exceed And Excel) who retired to Northwood Park in Seymour after garnering Group wins in the MVRC McEwen Stakes and MRC Blue Diamond Prelude.

A Darley homebred, Kuroshio covered 104 mares in his first Victorian book in 2014 and then shuttled for a one-off northern season to Overbury Stud in England.
