First winner by Port Headland

Woodman stallion Port Headland was represented by his first winner at Mt Magnet on Saturday.

His first crop mare Cyclical’s Girl broke through in the Garland International Maiden (1000m) at the mid-west track which is located 350kms inland from Geraldton.

Cyclical’s Girl (4m Port Headland – Cyclical by Celtic Swing) had been unplaced in 6 previous starts for her part-owner and breeder John Chilcott.

Port Headland won at Newcastle and Rosehill for Graeme Rogerson and at Morphettville after transferring to trainer John Hickmott.  A half-brother to G1 Golden Slipper Stakes winner Polar Success, he retired to Chilcott’s Pinjarra property in 2008 and sired 47 foals in five seasons at stud.
