Former Windsor Park shuttler Pour Moi (Ire) is off the mark at stud courtesy of Only Mine who struck in a Cork maiden on Tuesday.
The Joseph Murphy-trained filly was sent off an odds-on favourite, having finished a close second to Most Beautiful in the G3 Grangecon Stud Stakes on her last start. “This filly is exceptional,” Murphy said. “She cruised and did that very easily. She will run in the Debutante, Moyglare and is also in the Cheveley Park Stakes. There are exciting times ahead with her.”
Only Mine cost 80,000 euros at the 2014 Goffs Orby yearling sale. She was bred by the late Marguerite Weld out of Truly Mine (Rock Of Gibraltar) who was trained by her son Dermot to land the LR Salsabil Stakes at Dundalk.
Truly Mine has already foaled three winners and she descends from the family of Irish Oaks heroine Moonstone and Chester Vase winner Orchestra.
Pour Moi (Montjeu) won the 2011 English Derby in the last of five racecourse appearances for owners John Magnier, Michael Tabor & Derrick Smith.
He shuttled from Coolmore Ireland to Windsor Park in NZ and covered a total of 183 mares during southern books in 2012 and 2013. While in quarantine in England last year, Pour Moi developed a problem and did not travel to New Zealand on veterinary advice. He didn’t shuttle this year, either.
The first Kiwi-bred yearlings by Pour Moi sold to $230,000 at the majors earlier this year. Trainer Tony McEvoy paid top price for the colt from Blushful (Red Ransom) at the Inglis Melbourne Premier in March.
