Winning Front for Stonehurst Farm sire Primus

Burning Front is on the cusp of a winning hat-trick for owner-breeder Justin Lovatt and Euroa based Stonehurst Farm stallion Primus.

The Darren Weir trained sprinter-miler has been in superb form since returning from a spell with a first-up victory at Ballarat in a Benchmark 64.  He’s won 4 times in 9 starts this prep and his last start Geelong victory was in a Benchmark 84.

Burning Front (5g Primus – She’s A Knockout by Kingston Rule) is rising up the ranks now that he’s finding the line in determined style.  “It took me all day to come down from the high of that last win,” Lovatt said.  “It’s especially satisfying because I own the sire and the dam.”

Primus (Flying Spur) has just turned 13 and Lovatt stands him in association with Anne Richardson at Stonehurst Farm in Euroa.  He’s back in the Super VOBIS State after a stint in Queensland.

Lovatt also bred Burning Front’s older brother Apollo Creed who was a brilliant two year-old winner at Flemington.  “Primus has been such a good horse to us and we’re delighted to welcome him home in Victoria.  He’s already attracting solid bookings.”

Another Primus with ability is last-start Sandown-Lakeside winner Rooboy.  He border-hopped from Port Lincoln to win a Donald maiden in March and backed that up with another dashing display in Melbourne on Easter Monday.

Tipped out for six months to keep maturing, Rooboy will repay that patience as this season unfolds for owner-trainer Darryl Carrison.

Primus will stand for a $2,200 (inc gst) service fee.   For more information contact Stonehurst Farm’s Anne Richardson on 0425 859 407 or Justin Lovatt on 0416 063 873.
