First winner by So You Think

Kiwi filly Gold Rush became the first winner and first stakes winner for So You Think with an on-pace victory in the G2 Matamata Breeders Stakes (1200m)

Gold Rush broke quickly from the gates to sit on the pace and fought on with great determination to score narrowly in a competitive finish from Sassy ‘N’ Smart (Smart Missile) and What Choux Want (Jimmy Choux).

The breakthrough came just a week after Conscious was stakes placed at Flemington for the Coolmore Stud stallion.

Gold Rush (2f So You Think – Gold Rocks by Oratorio) was facing the starter for the third time on Saturday.  She is trained by Lance O’Sullivan and Andrew Scott and will now target the coming New Zealand juvenile Group 1 events.

“She’s pretty game and really stuck to her task – she looked gone on the turn,” Scott said.  “Being by So You Think she will be better the further she goes.”

A $60,000 Karaka Premier purchase from Phoenix Park, Gold Rush is a half-sister to LR Gimcrack Stakes winner Calaverite from G2 Karrakatta Plate winner Gold Rocks.

With over 120 unraced two year-olds, including promising sorts in the hands of the likes of Snowden, Hawkes, Waller, Moody, Cummings, Moroney and Waterhouse, momentum is building behind So You Think in advance of the autumn carnival.
