First winner for Modern Era

Modern Era posted his first win as a sire with Wallyworld in the Mitavite XLR8 Maiden Plate (1600m) at Murray Bridge on Wednesday.

Modern Era won four races up to 1700m in Melbourne and was also placed in Listed company behind Keep The Faith and Our Smoking Joe in the 2004 Schweppes Cup at Caulfield.

The son of Marscay was the last of six winners from champion producer Olympic Aim (Zamazaan).  The first was Marscay’s G1 Australian Oaks winner Circles Of Gold and she did even better at stud foaling the G1 winners Elvstroem (Danehill) and Haradasun (Fusaichi Pegasus).

Olympic Aim is also the second dam of International G1 Sprinter Starspangledbanner (Choisir).

Modern Era retired to Foxes Hollow in NSW and covered well over 100 mares in his first two books prior to Di Hill dispersing the Oakdale stud.  He relocated to Rivers End Stud in South Australia where his books have struggled to reach double figures.

Wallyworld (3g Modern Era – Miss Crown by Bellotto) is trained by Paul Seater and is a homebred for the Duffield family.  He is a younger half-brother to four-time winner Brimarvi (Lucky Owners).
