First winner for Vinnie Roe

Melbourne Cup regular Vinnie Roe sired his first winner in Ireland on Friday.  The Coolmore Stud stallion started in three Melbourne Cups with a best-placed second to Makybe Diva in 2004.

Vinnie Roe (Definite Article) was trained by Dermot Weld to win the Irish – French St Leger double in 2001.  He went on to complete an unprecedented four Irish St Legers in a row.

Vinnie Roe stands at Coolmore’s National Hunt division at Grange Stud in County Cork.  His first winner Mumbo Jumbo scored by nearly four lengths on debut in the Mooncoyne NH Flat Race (3200m) at Gowran Park.

Mumbo Jumbo (4g Vinnie Roe – Top Lot by Topanoora) is trained by Mags Mullins for Peter Magnier.  “I’m delighted and he did it really well,” Mullins said.  “He has a super attitude and answers every question.  He could be a fair horse.”

Mumbo Jumbo was bred by John O’Connor and bought by Mullins for 60,000 euros as a foal at Tattersalls Ireland.
