Tassie hero prolongs the Dream

Reigning Tasmanian Horse of the Year Dream Pedlar relished the wet conditions to win the Listed JRA Cup at Moonee Valley on Friday evening.

Dream Pedlar (8g West Quest – Unamah by Top Avenger) made the most of several late withdrawals to score a two length victory Carnero and Domesky.

Trainer Troy Blacker is hoping for a Caulfield Cup penalty but it may not be enough to qualify.  “I started to get quite confident with all the scratchings,” the Longford conditioner admitted.  “He’s the best I’ve ever trained and is every bit a racehorse.”

Born and raised at Armidale Stud, Dream Pedlar set a weight carrying record of 61kg to win the Devonport Cup (1800m) in January.  He also won the Listed Kevin Sharkie Stakes in Hobart after a successful mainland campaign where he won the LR Bendigo Cup and Ballarat Gold Nugget last year.

Dream Pedlar is by Grenville Stud sire West Quest (Gone West) and is raced by Dr Michael Mee and Robert Nightingale who are two of Blacker’s long-time stable clients.

Mee owns his dam Unamah and she has a 2yo colt by Ladoni and a yearling colt by West Quest.
