First XI winner for Time Thief

Darley freshman Time Thief opened his account at stud when his 11th starter Copy Watch won at Ruakaka on Wednesday.

Copy Watch (2g Time Thief – Stand By Your Man by Nuclear Freeze) is prepared by Dean and Donna Logan and he had a half-length to spare on debut in the Reliable Man Challenge (800m).

Jockey Matt Cameron settling him on the speed at his home track and he held on to score from Maia’s Angel (Thorn Park).  “He’s a nice, well put together horse,” Cameron said.  “He put in a bit of a performance at the start, but jumped straight on the nickel and won despite being quite green in the straight.”

Time Thief (Redoute’s Choice) is from the outstanding producer Procrastinate and is a three-quarter brother to Foreplay.  A $2 million yearling, he was a Listed winner of the Zeditave Stakes at Caulfield and was Group 1 placed in the Caulfield Guineas and Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley.

In Australia, his Matthew Dale trained gelding Rom Baro is knocking on the door after finishing a length second to Voodoo Lad in the Inglis 2YO Challenge at Scone last Friday.

Time Thief retired to Darley Kelvinside in 2010 for a $13,750 fee.  He is the least expensive among the 15 horse roster this year at $5,500.
