Five O’Clock booked for Magic Millions 2yo Classic

Five O’Clock booked his place in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic with an impressive win at Doomben on Saturday.  The Dane Shadow gelding came with a barnstormer to reel in the highly fancied Noisy Ocean (Shovhog) in the Coca-Cola 2yo Hcp (1110m).

Trainer Alan Bailey rates the winner highly.  “He doesn’t know what it is all about yet,” Bailey said.  “I put some new gear on him on Tuesday and he worked brilliantly so I decided to go with it today.”

Five O’Clock (2g Dane Shadow – Curtail by Catrail) will go into the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast on January 15 without another run.  “I don’t like overtaxing young horses.   He will go for a break after the Magic Millions.”

“He’ll need to draw an alley in the Magic Millions,” Bailey predicted.  “It’s the type of race you can’t afford to give them a start.”

Five O’Clock was a $50,000 purchase at the 2010 Gold Magic Millions.  He is by Kitchwin Hills young gun Dane Shadow – the sire of the G1 Galaxy Handicap winner and Magic Millions graduate Shellscrape.  His dam Curtail is a half sister to 7 winners include the Hong Kong winners Fibber, Spokesman and Hong Kong Lad.
