Sixinch Heels didn’t need all the favours to win first-up at Pinjarra on Thursday but she made the most of them anyway when strolling home by four lengths in the Western Racepix Maiden (1200m).
The Simon Miller-trained filly had weighed in after all three starts during an initial spring campaign and she looked fit for purpose when resuming on the back of an eye-catching trial at Belmont last month.
Sixinch Heels drew wide but always looked the winner after an early manoeuvre by Lucy Fiore. The Nicconi filly was sitting pretty in the box seat after a furlong and it was all over as a contest once they straightened.
“That’s how you want them to win at $1.40,” Miller said. “She annihilated them! She kept extending and went further ahead under hold in the final furlong. Congratulations to Ben and Jo and there’s plenty more to be had after that!”
Forest View Farm breeders Ben and Jo Duncan retained Sixinch Heels after bidding failed to reach a $70,000 reserve at the 2023 Perth Magic Millions. They had purchased her dam Atame (Zoustar) carrying the TBWA Winner of the Week for $45,000 on the Gold Coast at the 2021 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.
Atame had won a Ballarat 3yo maiden for trainer Danny O’Brien and Sixinch Heels is her first foal. The second is a 2yo Hanseatic (Street Boss) filly that cost Lindsey Smith $150,000 at the 2024 Perth Magic Millions.
“Sixinch Heels certainly proved why she went out at ridiculous odds,” Forest View posted on Facebook. “She’s always shown ability for Simon and patience is a virtue.”
Forest View Farm finished second on the Book 1 vendor list for turnover ($997,500) at last month’s Perth Magic Millions. All 10 yearlings found new homes with top price of $250,000 paid by NZ-based Corridor Bloodstock for the Toronado (Ire) colt from Keltara (Exceed And Excel).
