Former Yarraman shuttler dies in Qatar

Former Yarraman Park shuttler Desert Style has died in Qatar.  The 21 year-old stallion succumbed to a severe case of colic.

Desert Style (Ire) won to Group 3 level for the late Sheikh Maktoum and stood at Morristown Lattin Stud and Corbally Stud in Ireland before a further transfer to Haras du Hoguenet in 2006.  He moved to Qatar earlier this year.

A son of Green Desert, he has sired 373 individual winners including 90 in Australia after shuttling to Yarraman Park for four seasons until 1999.  Only two of those southern winners graduated to Listed victories – Rally (LR SAJC Classic Mile) and Stormy Summers (LR VRC Anzac Day Stakes) – hence the short spell in the Hunter Valley.

Desert Style’s Group 1 winning son Paco Boy (Ire) shuttles to Waikato Stud in NZ and his first yearlings will be catalogued for the 2014 NZB Karaka National Sales.
