French farewell for Honours List

Former Australian sire Honours List has been put down at Haras de Saint-Arnoult in France.  He was 13.

Honours List stood at Widden Stud and Hollylodge Thoroughbreds before travelling back to Europe in March 2009.

Group 1 Doncaster Handicap winner Triple Honour has been his chief earner in Australia while Luen Yat Forever also scored at the elite level in Macau.

Luen Yat Forever has come close to improving his record in Australia with narrow losses in the G1 Emirates Stakes at Flemington and more recently in the LR Sky High Stakes at Rosehill.

Honours List (Danehill) cost Coolmore’s John Magnier the equivalent of AUD 819,310 at the 1999 Deauville yearling sale.  He was a G3 winner of the Railway Stakes in Ireland and was also G1 placed in Prix de la Salamandre and Grand Criterium in France.

Honours List has sired 166 individual winners at a 59% strike rate.  Triple Honour, Luen Yat Forever and Doomben Listed winner Tabulate are the only ones that have graduated to black-type success.
