Galileo filly tops $2 million at Tatts October Sale

A Galileo filly brought 1.2 million guineas (AUD 2.06 million) to top the opening session of Book 1 of the Tattersalls October yearling sale on Tuesday.  Coolmore Stud’s John Magnier bought the filly from the consignment of Ireland-based Lodge Park Stud.

“I only had her reserved at 300,000 guineas but you never quite know what is going happen,” Burns said.  “I have always felt that she is the nicest I have ever bred.  It’s rare for things to click together so well.”

The Galileo filly is a half sister to this year’s Washington Singer Stakes winner Janood (Medicean).  Their dam Alluring Park (Green Desert) is a half sister to European champions New Approach (Galileo) and Dazzling Park (Warning).

Day 1 trade was 14.92 million guineas (AUD 25.60 million) for the 146 lots that changed hands.  The average of 102,199 guineas (AUD 173,643) was down 8.4% on a clearance rate of 75.6%.
