Regally bred Par sired his first winner when Minnie Marj was successful at Goulburn on Monday.
Minnie Marj (3f Par – Miss Majakit by Majaahed) won the Stallion Tender Scheme Maiden (1300m) second time out for local trainer Ken Callaughan.
Par was bred by Lloyd Williams and Kerry Packer and was given a chance at stud despite getting only as far as a Geelong maiden win in January 2004. By Octagonal, he was out of Danehill mare Merlene who won the 1996 Golden Slipper for Williams and Packer.
Par stood at Hollylodge Stud in Victoria but a low 30% fertility count meant he was never a commercial prospect. He served 31 mares in 2004 and 2005 but there were only seven live foals from those two books.
Par was then gelded and put back into work. He was hawked around NSW and Victorian country tracks but was retired shortly after winning a Class 1 at Avoca on Anzac Day in 2007.
