Champion Japanese sire Agnes Tachyon has died at the Shadai Stallion Station. The 11 year-old son of Sunday Silence suffered a heart attack on Monday.
Shadai bred Agnes Tachyon from 1990 Japanese 1000 Guineas winner Agnes Flora (Royal Ski). She also foaled 2000 Japanese Derby winner Agnes Flight.
Agnes Tachyon was undefeated in four starts and signed off with a G1 victory in the 2001 Japanese 2000 Guineas for owner Takao Watanabe and trainer Hiroyuki Nagahama.
“We are shocked,” Shadai owner Teruya Yoshida said. “His death has come so suddenly.”
From his first four crops, Agnes Tachyon sired 2007 Champion 3yo Filly Daiwa Secret, 2008 Japanese Derby winner Deep Sky, 2008 Champion 3yo Filly Little Amapola and 2008 Japanese 2000 Guineas winner Captain Thule.
