Glass Harmonium goes commercial at Blue Gum Farm

Group 1 winner Glass Harmonium (Ire) will cover his first commercial book at Blue Gum Farm in 2014.

GLASS HARMONIUM served 10 mares to test his fertility at the Victorian stud last year and he returned excellent results.  Initially trained by Sir Michael Stoute, he was a Group 3 winner of the Gordon Richards Stakes (2000m) in England before arriving at Mike Moroney’s stable for a local career topped by a Group 1 triumph in the Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) at Flemington.

An eye-catching seven year-old grey stallion, he is a son of Verglas who won the G2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot before embarking on a successful shuttler career between Haras de Haie Neuve in France and Alwyn Park in Western Australia.

Verglas (Highest Honor) represents the Kenmare sireline and his European stakes winners have been headed by Silver Frost (G1 French 2000 Guineas) and Stormy River (G1 Prix Jean Prat).

Glass Harmonium will stand for a $6,600 (inc gst) fee.

CANFORD CLIFFS (Ire) was a world champion miler and his first Australian weanlings have fetched up to $65,000 this year.  Some 25 of his first crop European foals have averaged over 65,000 euros (AUD 97,025).

Canford Cliffs (Tagula) will stand for a $13,750 (inc gst) fee.

RED ARROW is a beautifully bred son of Red Ransom and G1 Blue Diamond winning filly Lady Jakeo.  His second crop of yearlings have sold to $100,000.  Third crop weanling recently fetched $48,000.

Red Arrow will stand for an $8,800 (inc gst) fee.

TURFFONTEIN was a multiple Group 1 winner and is currently Victoria’s leading first-season with Hunters Grace getting him off the mark at Bendigo last month.  He is also the sire of promising Mornington stakes performer Fontein Ruby.   His second crop yearlings sold up to $110,000.

Turffontein (Johannesburg) will stand for a $7,700 (inc gst) fee.

ELVSTROEM was an international Group 1 winner who continues to produce winners week in and week out.  Sire of this year’s Adelaide Cup winner Outback Joe and C S Hayes Stakes winner Hucklebuck.  His progeny earnings total more than $15.40 million.

Elvstroem (Danehill) will stand for a $4,400 (inc gst) fee.
