Glenlogan Park dominated the $250,000 QTIS 600 2YO Plate at the Gold Coast on Saturday but the finish didn’t go according to the script.
Black Cash (2g Show A Heart – Eminence Grise by Sea Road) did best in Heavy 10 conditions to score a $15 upset over Kahui (Jet Spur) and Punch On (Tiger Hill). Last-start Eagle Farm winner Jet Star Girl (Jet Spur) was expected to lead home the Glenlogan Park brigade but she didn’t go a yard on the bog track.
The QTIS 600 2YO Plate winner is trained locally by Kelly Doughty for owner-breeder Dan Hatcher. The retired opal miner sent Eminence Grise back to the Innisplain nursery to be covered by Show A Heart again last year.
Black Cash is the first winner from Show A Heart’s latest crop of two year-olds and he will be set for the G1 T J Smith Classic (1600m) at Eagle Farm in June.
Queensland’s champion sire has a growing roll-call of precocious juveniles lead by Mimi Lebrock (Gold Coast Magic Millions), Crossyourheart (G2 Matamata Breeders Stakes) and Toorak Toff (Adelaide Magic Millions).
Black Cash is from five time winner Eminence Grise who was stakes placed at Doomben and Gold Coast for Doughty and Hatcher. She is a half-sister to Listed BRC Queensland Day Plate winner Tierqualo (Sequalo) who was also trained by Doughty.
Glenlogan Park resident Falvelon also banked the QTIS bonus on offer at the rain-shortened Eagle Farm meeting on Saturday. His Toowoomba based gelding Mr Favulous collected $53,000 for owner-breeder Julia Simmons with a three length victory in the QTIS Sunlinc Solar Hcp.
