Grand New Zealand based galloper Hold it Harvey continued his great run in feature races with a comprehensive victory in the G3 Thompson Handicap (1600m) at Trentham on Saturday.
Hold it Harvey (6g King Cugat – Daly Charm by Best Western) increased his career card to 12 wins from 51 starts and over $504,000 in Wellington. He romped home to beat Roxon (Postponed) and The Meista (Montjeu) by more than two lengths.
Based at Riccarton with highly-regarded Kiwi horseman Terri Rae, he had already claimed G3 wins in the Easter Cup and White Robe Lodge Stakes (2) in addition to Listed events in the Timaru Stakes, Ray Coupland Stakes and Canterbury Stakes.
Rae purchased him for just $16,000 from the Baramul Stud draft at the 2006 Magic Millions National yearling sale.
His yearling half brother by More Than Ready was purchased by Gerald Ryan for $235,000 at the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions.
Hold it Harvey’s sire King Cugat (Kingmambo) stands at Barree Stud in Victoria. He also sired Secret Status to a Listed victory in the SAJC Pewsey Vale Stakes at Morphettville last Monday.
