Pepper Jet will head to the Magic Millions 2YO Classic with an unbeaten record after winning in impressive style at the Gold Coast on Saturday. The Jet Spur colt is prepared by Liam Birchley and he cruised home by two lengths from Ingham Magic (Magic Albert) and Five O’Clock (Dane Shadow).
Pepper Jet (2c Jet Spur – Athenee Francais by Sadler’s Wells) had won on debut at the Sunshine Coast on December 19. “He’s always shown a lot of ability and would be one of the nicest two-year-olds I’ve trained,” Birchley claimed. “He should be suited by the 1200 metres in the Magic Millions.”
Pepper Jet was an $80,000 buy from Glenlogan Park at the 2010 Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale. His second dam is a sister to champion mare Miesque.
Glenlogan Park has a draft of 23 yearlings for the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale including 8 by Jet Spur. Among them is the Jet Spur half brother to South East Asian star Handsome Nic (Lot 774) being prepared by Robin Wise as agent for the Twine family.
A son of Flying Spur, Jet Spur has made a great start to his stud career with no less than 26 winners in his first crop and he’s already sired another four from his second crop.
Birchley prepared Jet Spur’s first ever winner when Slice And Dice scored at Eagle Farm in November 2009.
