Grangewilliam Stud has secured former speedy son of Danehill Danfive for stallion duties.

Danfive (6h Danehill-Eyes Of Belief by Sadler’s Wells), who raced in Hong Kong as Grand Surpreme was a $400,000 purchase at the 2003 Magic Millions Premier Sale and won his first five races on end for trainer Peter Ho.

He fractured a knee at his next run and was subsequently sent to New Zealand to recover.

After a twelve month stint on the sidelines he returned to the track, but after failing to recapture his early Hong Kong form was retired.  “Danfive is a striking type of horse in the mould of his father,” Grangewilliam’s Mark Corcoran said.

“History has shown us that fast sons of Danehill become very successful sires and Danfive was certainly fast.”

Danfive owns an outstanding pedigree – he is out of the Sadler’s Wells mare Eyes Of Belief, a sister to the dam of four time G1 winner Henrythenavigator, who recently served his first Northern Hemisphere season at Ashford Stud in Kentucky.

The son of Kingmambo is set to stand at Coolmore’s Australian operation this year. Eyes Of Belief is also a sister to G1 winners Insight and Saffron Walden and a half-sister to successful sire and G1 winner Dolphin Street (Bluebird).

Danfive will stand his first season at Grangewilliam Stud for $5,000 inc gst.
