Great Britain breakthrough at Pinjarra

Former New Zealand based stallion Great Britain (GB) was represented by his initial winner in Western Australia on Wednesday.

His first-crop galloper Tacash (NZ) broke through with a barrier-to-box victory in the Peel Caterers Maiden (1000m) down the straight course at Pinjarra.

Tacash (3g Great Britain – Bankonher by British Banker) is trained by Tim Stubberfield and he was racing second-up after a promising debut at Ascot on November 3.  The gelding failed to reach a $10,000 reserve when offered by Oxford Thoroughbreds (as agent) at the 2011 NZ Bloodstock Select yearling sale.

Great Britain (Green Desert) was a Listed winner of the 2007 Al Quoz Sprint at Nad Al Sheba for Sheikh Mohammed.  He is a brother to Cape Cross and a half-brother to the dams of Iffraaj and Diktat.

Sent to New Zealand in 2008, he was initially based at Westbury Stud and Stoney Bridge before relocating to The Alchemy Stud in South Africa last year.

Tacash’s dam Bankonher won at Tauranga and she is a half-sister to G1 Thorndon Mile winner Say No More (Pentire).  The mare has a yearling colt by Rich Hill Stud’s English Derby winner Sir Percy but wasn’t served in 2011.
