Green Light for More Than Ready

More Than Ready is probably too far off the pace to win the Australian sires’ title but he can cap another successful season in feature races at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

More Than Ready ($6.34 million) will narrow the gap on premiership leader Lonhro ($6.96 million) if results go his way with Mahisara, Ready To Rip and Phelan Ready.

Mahisara will take a perfect record into the G2 QTC Sires’ Produce after wins at Kembla and Canterbury.  The Paul Messara trained filly represents the incredibly successful More Than Ready / Danehill cross.

The same applies for the perennially unlucky Ready To Rip who deserves a change of luck in the Listed Daybreak Lover Stakes.

And the Jason McLachlan trained Phelan Ready is the dark horse of the G2 QTC Cup.  At his best, the Magic Millions / Golden Slipper champion would win by panels.

Apart from three winning chances in Brisbane, the Vinery champion also has rising star Gimmethegreenlight gunning to keep his unbeaten record intact in South Africa on Saturday.

Gimmethegreenlight (2c More Than Ready – Yes She Can Cancan by Canny Lad) is an odds-on favourite to win the Football Juvenile Plate (1300m) on the opening day of Greyville’s Group 1 winter carnival.

The Cape Town visitor will have to lump 60kg after three very impressive victories at Kenilworth.  He earned the trip to Durban after winning the Listed Somerset Stakes on April 9.

Gimmethegreenlight is trained by Justin Snaith for high-profile owner Hassen Adams.  He was bred by David Bentata and Vinery sold him as a weanling for $155,000 at 2009 Magic Millions National Sale.

The More Than Ready colt is a half-brother to Mossman stakes-winner Ofcourseican (LR ATC Wenona Girl Hcp) and a Sebring colt foaled last October.

Gimmethegreenlight’s race is timed for 9.45pm (AEST).

Snaith and stable rider Felix Coetzee will be favoured to win the G1 Daily News 2000 with Run For It later in the evening.

And stablemate Emerald Cove looks the only danger to Mike de Kock’s champion filly Igugu in the G1 Woolavington 2000.  The Australian bred Galileo mare is coming off a six length victory in the G1 South African Oaks.
