Redoute’s Choice is a fixture at the top of the Magic Millions averages year after year and the Arrowfield champion isn’t about to hand over the baton any time soon.
A groundswell of opinion around the Gold Coast sale grounds on Sunday indicated the Redoute’s Choice colts from I Got Chills (Lot 36), Inaflury (42), Penny Gem (188) and Cannyanna (513) will be in demand.
Arrowfield operations manager Sam Fairgray has 25 lots stabled for inspection after the withdrawals of colts by Not A Single Doubt (351) and Snitzel (724).
Fairgray singled out the colt by Arrowfield favourite Flying Spur from Ready Magic (238) as an early-comer next season. “He’s a very precocious type,” Fairgray said. “He’s beautifully balanced and will jump and run as a two year-old.”
The colt is a three-quarter brother to Randwick G2 winner Trezevant (Flying Spur) and is bred on a reverse cross to Saturday’s brilliant More Than Ready winner Raceway.
Fairgray picked out the Starcraft filly out of Special Sweep (325) as another standout from the Arrowfield draft. “She has an amazing walk,” he said. “Her second dam is champion sprinter Special but she will probably be more of a three year-old.”
Snitzel is another Arrowfield sire with several promising prospects entered for the Magic Millions. His filly from Flidais (626) is a strong individual according to Fairgray and expectations are she will be up and running as an early-season two year-old.
Snitzel buyers will be banking on a Sizzling or Amorino victory in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic this Saturday. An inside gate will go along way to getting Sizzling over the line and Amorino looked a likely type at Rosehill on New Year’s Eve.
Amorino was a $70,000 purchase from the Arrowfield Stud draft at the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions. His trainer Gerald Ryan was on the grounds inspecting Arrowfield’s yearlings in Stables T and U on Sunday.
Ryan is sure to sign more Snitzel sale sheets at the Gold Coast this week.
