Leading breeder David Puglisi and his wife Lynley are walking on air with their Group 1 gallopers Hawkspur and Arinosa.
High class four year-old Hawkspur is on track for a big spring campaign targeting the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups, so it’s no surprise his dam Mollyhawk was booked back to his sire Purrealist (Tale Of The Cat).
Mollyhawk (Catbird) is among the first mares in foal to Purrealist this spring. He stands at Chatswood Stud for a $5,500 (inc gst) fee.
Hawkspur won the G1 Queensland Derby, G3 Grand Prix Stakes and G3 Habit Plate during a winter campaign and then added the G2 Chelmsford Stakes at Randwick in September. The Chris Waller trained gelding was last seen making late ground behind Happy Trails in the G1 Turnbull Stakes at Flemington.
His Dash For Cash stablemate Arinosa punched her ticket to the Melbourne spring carnival after landing a plunge in the G2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on October 5.
The Waller trained grey is heading for the G1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Friday, October 25. She also holds a nomination for the G1 Patinack Farm Classic (1200m) at Flemington on November 9.
Dash For Cash sired her from Amoroso (Revoque) who won races at Sandown and Cheltenham for Adam Sangster. Swettenham sold her for $32,500 at the 2009 Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale and she has banked over $514,000 in prizemoney.
Amoroso has a 2yo colt by Dash for Cash who stands for a $7,700 (inc gst) service fee at Swettenham.
