Ready’s Image filly I’m Already Sexy remained unbeaten on grass at Arlington Park after another runaway in the G3 Pucker Up Stakes (1800m) on Saturday.
I’m Already Sexy (3f Ready’s Image – Klohho by Trempolino) led at every panel and was still four lengths clear at the post to collect the $100,000 winner’s share of the Pucker Up prizemoney.
“It looked like there was no speed in the race,” trainer Wayne Catalano noted. “We had the rail with some speed and we took advantage of that situation. She’s become a different mare since we fitted blinkers three races ago,” Catalano added. “She used to do some silly stuff but since then she’s been working like a freak.”
The daughter of Ready’s Image had won an Arlington sprint in July and followed up with a five length victory in the LR Hatoof Stakes at her only other appearances on the Chicago turf circuit
“My filly was comfortable and turning for home she just went on and won very easy,” jockey Florent Geroux said. “It was an impressive performance and this filly has a bright future.”
Connections will now head her towards the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Challenge Cup at Keeneland on October 12. Three Pucker Up winners have doubled up in the Queen Elizabeth in the last decade – Ticker Tape (2004), Vacare (2006) and Hot Cha Cha (2009).
Bred by Equus Farm in Kentucky, I’m Already Sexy comes from the immediate family of this year’s G1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff contender Flashy American. She was sold to Hit The Board Stables for $20,000 at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October yearling sale and has now earned over $234,000 in prizemoney.
Her sire Ready’s Image (More Than Ready) isn’t on the Lincoln Farm roster this spring. He has shuttled from Walmac Farm to the Hunter Valley for four years but was a late withdrawal for 2013.
