Emerging stallion Jet Spur has an eye-catching half brother to South East Asian star Handsome Nic at the Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale next month. Catalogued as Lot 774, the colt is being prepped by Robin Wise as agent for the Twine family.
Handsome Nic (6g Show A Heart – Loopy by Rocket To Mars) is by a Champion Queensland sire who stands alongside Jet Spur at Glenlogan Park. He originally raced in Singapore as Handsome Jazz and won six races for Don Baertschiger. He also earned black type with a G3 second in the Juvenile Championship.
Racing first-up after an 18 week spell at Ipoh and now known as Handsome Nic, he was a dominant three length winner in the Sultan Gold Vase over 1100m.
His dam Loopy has also foaled recent Gold Coast winner Danzig Dancer (King Of Danes). After her Jet Spur colt thaqt’s heading to the Magic Millions, she foaled a Real Saga filly in October.
“The Jet Spur colt is a real athlete and is a Magic Millions running type,” Wise reports. “I’ve prepared three yearlings out of the mare and this colt is by far the best of them.”
A son of Flying Spur, Jet Spur has made a great start to his stud career with no less than 23 winners in his first crop and debut winners like Flying Jet, Barrier Jet and Pepper Jet in the second.
His Loopy colt is QTIS qualified and is bred on the highly successful Danehill – Biscay cross. Wise’s draft will be located in Stable QA 19 at the Magic Millions complex.
