Hart heading to Melbourne

Progressive NZ gelding Ginner Hart may be Australia bound after making a cracking start to his classic year at Hastings on Saturday.

Ginner Hart (3g Volksraad – Lyford Cay by Montjeu) had won on debut at Trentham in April and kept his record intact with a first-up victory after a 17 week spell.
Wanganui trainer Alexander Fieldes is keen to cross the Tasman with the rising star.  “We were going to go to Moonee Valley last week but decided to come here for the softer option,” he said.  “We might go over to Caulfield now in a fortnight – there’s a couple of races over there for him.”

Ginner Hart (NZ) is named after former leading Hawera trainer Brian Hart.  Fieldes races the gelding with his brother Frazer and he also prepared Marea Alta to win the LR Taumarunui Cup last month.

Ginner Hart was a $30,000 buy from the Windsor Park draft at the 2010 NZB Festival Sale at Karaka.  His dam Lyford Cay is a half-sister to the dam of the G3 Lord Mayor’s Cup winner Rum Dum (Peintre Celebre).

Fieldes has enjoyed success in Australia in the past with Capecover (Cape Cross) who won the 2008 G3 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Flemington and LR Tokyo City Cup at Morphettville.
