Heart Of Dreams heads a strong contingent of winter carnival candidates for Glenlogan Park sire Show A Heart.  

The Mick Price trained gelding is on-course for a successful Brisbane campaign after first-up third in the G1 All-Aged Stakes on Saturday.  He was never going to run down top-class sprinter Hay List at Randwick but Price was more than happy with the effort.

“We freshened him up after the Australian Cup and the 1400 metres on a heavy track wasn’t ideal last Saturday,” Price said.  “The horse is well within himself and we expect him to keep improving in Brisbane.

Heart Of Dreams (5g Show A Heart – Academy Of Dreams by Royal Academy) was a Group 1 winner at three (VRC Australian Guineas) and four (MRC Underwood Stakes).  A G2 victory in the MRC St George Stakes at Caulfield in February boosted his bank balance to over $1.58 million for owner-breeder Larry Bartle.

Those dollars have helped Glenlogan Park champion Show A Heart dominate the Queensland sires’ premiership in recent years and he has another title already sewn up this season

Woorim can kick-start Show A Heart’s carnival in the G2 Victory Stakes at Eagle Farm next Saturday.  He is coming off an unlucky fourth to Azzaland in the LR Bribie Hcp at Doomben on April 16.

Woorim (5g Show a Heart – Wabble by Canadian Silver) took time to hit his straps due to hoof problems.  “They bruised very easily early on,” trainer Rob Heathcote recalled.  “We packed them with special clays and poultices and that helped get him going.”

Woorim came good at last year’s winter carnival winning at Doomben and Eagle Farm before completing a hat-trick in the Listed Glasshouse Handicap at Sunshine Coast.

Sent to Melbourne for the spring carnival, he was placed in the G1 Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield and in a Listed event Flemington before returning home.

Woorim was backed into a $3.80 favourite first-up in the Bribie Hcp and would have won but for pilot error.  Jockey Damian Browne admitted he made the wrong decision by electing to take a hold rather than letting him go forward.

“He finished fourth in the Bribie and it was the run of the race,” Heathcote claimed.  “I’ve never had him better and I think he’s a genuine Stradbroke Handicap contender.

“Hopefully, the speed is right on in the Victory Stakes because 1200 metres is probably short of his ideal distance.  Otherwise, everything is going according to plan and we are right on track to peak in the Stradbroke.”

Woorim sports the same white, black and orange silks as Show A Heart.  Owner-breeder Ross Cutts raced Show A Heart and he kept Woorim after bidding failed to reach a $75,000 reserve at the 2007 Gold Coast Magic Millions.
