Peter Moody will resist the temptation to set Lights Of Heaven for the G1 AJC Oaks even though the Zabeel filly kept her unbeaten record intact at Moonee Valley on Friday night.
Lights Of Heaven (3f Zabeel – I’m In Heaven by Volksraad) completed a hat-trick with an on-pace victory in the Moonee Valley Fillies’ Classic (1600m) over Always Discreet (Exceed And Excel) and Absolutely (Redoute’s Choice).
“She could be one right out of the box but is still developing,” Moody said. “It’s her first preparation and I’m not sure whether she’s mature enough to keep in work for Sydney. We might send her to Adelaide for the Australasian Oaks or we might send her to the paddock.”
Lights Of Heaven trounced her rivals by seven lengths over 1200m on debut at Cranbourne in January and then motored home to score at Sandown over 1400m second-up.
She is raced by owner-breeder Judy Wanless and is by champion sire Zabeel from I’m In Heaven who won six races in Melbourne and Brisbane.
I’m In Heaven is a sister to G3 Hawke’s Bay Highview Stakes winner Eloa. She has a 2yo colt named Innovate (O’Reilly) and followed up with fillies by Darci Brahma and Savabeel. The mare was covered by Mastercraftsman last year.
