A colt from the first Australian crop of Darley shuttler Henny Hughes topped Session 5 of the Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale on Sunday. Offered for sale by Vinery Stud, as agent, the colt was snapped up by BC3 Thoroughbreds for $210,000.
A Not a Single Doubt half brother to this season’s stakes performed juvenile Eternal Revenue was right behind him at $200,000.
Perth based businessman Peter Caporn held the bid on the youngster offered by Darlington Stud. Caporn races promising Galileo gelding Space Craft. The Mick Price trained gelding followed up a Listed victory in the Penny Edition Stakes at Morphettville in August with two wins in a row at Moonee Valley in September.
Sunday’s trade saw 157 lots sold for $7.35 million at an average price of $46,866. That was up on last year’s corresponding session by 11%. The clearance rate was 78%.
“The competition on quality lots was extremely strong,” Magic Millions Managing Director Stephen Silk reported. “There was a good line up buyers who stuck around after Saturday night’s fourth session and they were presented with a quality line up of youngsters.”
Tuesday’s auction is the much anticipated racehorse sale. It includes the Team Williams draft which will be sold without a reserve.
