Hi Belle rises from a provincial maiden to meet some promising fillies at Sandown this afternoon but she is capable of making the grade in the Indian Summer Hcp (Race 4 at 3.20pm AEDT).
Hi Belle (3f Clangalang – Seldom Caught by Jugah) outclassed her rivals at Kilmore a fortnight ago. Darren Gauci settled her at the tail over 1107m before pushing the button approaching the home turn. She circled the field and had them covered a long way out.
Hi Belle was racing second-up at Kilmore. She had come from the clouds to finish close up behind Sublimity at Seymour on debut in September. The 1400m of today’s trip should suit third time out this prep.
Her sire Clangalang is getting among the winners this season. The Mick Price trained Marconi is the most likely to garner the first black-type for his sire who stands at Eliza Park.
Hi Belle is a half-sister to the winners Lady Lyn (Gold Carat), Very Elusive (Lacryma Cristi) and Little Antics (Planchet). Second dam Often Caught (Pompeii Court) is a winning half-sister to G3 NZ St Leger winner Freequent (Mistral Dancer) and she is also a sister to the dam of G1 Queensland Derby winner Court Ruler (Viking Ruler).
