Horror result for Perth Magic Millions

Exceed And Excel doesn’t have any yearlings catalogued for the 2012 Perth Magic Millions and more’s the pity because the Darley shuttler unearthed a potential star at Ascot on Saturday.

Miami Horror (2g Exceed And Excel – No Questions by Xaar) will be one of the favourites for the $250,000 Perth Magic Millions 2YO Classic on February 11 after blitzing his rivals in the Westspeed 2YO Plate.

Trainer Donna Riordan said it’s now full steam ahead for the Magic Millions.  “He was never going to get beaten and was always travelling smoothly in front,” she said.  “I think he can develop into a Karrakatta horse.”

Exceed And Excel got the winner from 2005 Karrakatta Plate winner No Questions.  He is part-owned by Rob Watson and Joe Iemma and they also received a lucrative bonus being Westspeed qualified.

Exceed And Excel has been represented by Perth stakes winners Canali (LR Summer Scorcher) and Rebel Call (LR Perth Stakes) and his promising local sprinter Born To Excel is also black-type bound this year.

Trainer Dan Morton sent the grey colt for spell after an unlucky third in the G3 Lee-Steere Classic last month.

Born To Excel (3c Exceed And Excel – Born Priceless by Pricelessly) is raced by Steve and Helen Palmer, Peter Blackburn, Greg Black and Yarradale Stud owner Ron Sayers.  He cost $200,000 at the 2010 Perth Magic Millions.

Exceed And Excel stands at Darley for a $66,000 service fee.  Miami Horror is the latest of his 454 individual winners and they have arrived at a sky-high 64% strike-rate.
