Horsham mare heads Swettenham Summer Championship

Let’s Be Happy took over at the top of the Swettenham Stud Summer Championship table after her win at Flemington on Monday.

The Horsham based mare was runner-up to Scarf in Heat 2 of the Championship last month and she went one better in Heat 6 which was run on a blistering hot day at headquarters.

Let’s Be Happy (5m Brief Truce – Happy Realm by Kingdom Bay) raced just off the pace and established a winning break in the straight before denying late closers By The Way and Kallogg.

The underrated mare has won 7 of her 9 starts this season but continues to go out at lucrative odds.  She has arrived under the radar at $10, $6, $31, $26, $6, $9 and $9.50.

”I don’t know why she’s at such big odds because she’s been so consistent,” trainer Mick Clark said.  “I suppose punters think her winning run has to finish sooner or later – but we’re happy to take those prices every time!

“She just likes being in work and racing so hopefully it can keep going.”

Aquanita chairman Peter Howell bred Let’s Be Happy under his Beauvest P/L banner.  She has now won over $254,000 and connections can win a free service to Swettenham shuttler Equiano if the winning run continues.

The Swettenham Summer Championship comprises 10 Heats plus a $100,000 Final at Betfair Park on January 28. The prize package also includes a trophy and a free service to Equiano.
