Hunter hat-trick in England

British based trainer Luca Cumani will be out to extend the unbeaten run of Australian bred mare Hunter Forward in England later this week.

Hunter Forward (Galileo) is coming off victories at Haydock and Sandown and will going for a hat-trick in the Have a Heart Trophy (2400m) at Newcastle on Friday.

The mare is a graduate of the Alwyn Park draft at the 2008 Perth Magic Millions.  Perth based owner Suzanne Forrest and her partner Murray Ward took a shine to the filly and purchased her for $68,000.

“She was just the most beautiful filly,” Forrest said. “She was with Michael Pateman early on and he did a great job getting all the basics right.”

The filly was then purchased by Simon O’Donnell and Terry Henderson’s OTI syndicate and was transferred to Butch Bourne in Victoria.  She only had a few starts over short trips in the Eastern States and won at Pakenham.

“When Luca was down for the Melbourne Cup he had a look at Hunter Forward and liked her,” Forrest said.  “It was decided to send her to Europe and it’s been a great thrill for everyone involved.”

Alwyn Park owner John Andrew has Hunter Forward’s dam Ooh Gorgeous Me in foal to Discorsi.  He is a stakes winning son of Galileo based at Yarradale Stud.  Ooh Gorgeous Me is a half sister the dam of stakes winners Danroad, Newtown Jet and Tippitaka.

Hunter Forward’s race is timed for 4.25am on Saturday morning (AEST).
