Hurunui (NZ) first winner by Buffalo Man

Totara Park stallion Buffalo Man (Can) sired his first winner when Hurunui scored on debut at Riccarton on Saturday.

Hurunui (NZ) is trained by Mandy and Matt Brown and showed speed and determination to win the Tender Options 2YO (800m) from Princess Brook (Raise The Flag) and All Dressed Up (Perfectly Ready).

Hurunui (2g Buffalo Man – Gore Bay by Danehill Dancer) is a half-brother to the Rusty Spur winning fillies Here’s Lucy and Domett.  Their dam Gore Bay has another yearling colt by Buffalo Man.

Buffalo Man stands at Totara Park in Whangarei and, like Medaglia D’Oro, Kitten’s Joy and Artie Schiller, is a son of Sadler’s Wells sire El Prado.  Bred in Ontario by Adena Springs, he is from multiple stakes-winning mare Perfect Six (Saratoga Six) who was also G1 placed in the 1998 Hollywood Starlet Stakes.

Buffalo Man was an exceptionally fast sprinter-miler winning at black-type level in the G3 Appleton Hcp, G3 Red Bank Stakes, LR Storm Cat Stakes, LR Spectacular Bid Stakes, LR Inside the Beltway Stakes and LR Ocala Breeders Championship Stakes.

Totara Park owners Dirk and Nicci Oberholster stand Buffalo Man for a $5,000 service fee.
