Mark Kavanagh’s horses are firing on all cylinders this month and the stable could be celebrating another Cox Plate victory in 48 hours.
The Kavanagh trained filly Cinecitta spanked her rivals at Kyneton on Tuesday and stablemate Hushrose can keep the momentum going in the sportsbet.com.au Handicap (Race 8 at 5.20pm) at Bendigo this afternoon.
Hushrose (4m Hussonet – The Roscoe Rose by Thorn Dance) is racing second-up after an encouraging fresh effort when third to Hidden Charges and Spiritoftheriver at Ballarat a fortnight ago. She was midfield at the turn and was beaten a half-length at the end of 1400m indicating a mile will suit this afternoon.
Hushrose doesn’t take long to come to hand. She won second-up at Sale last year and third-up from a break at Mornington in Febuary.
She is a youngster sister to Ausbred Rose who has won up to 2300m in Sydney and she is also a half-sister to multiple winners Southern Rose (Unbridled’s Song) and Bold Barassi (Danzero).
Their dam is a US bred winning half-sister to Play For Love (Jacinto) who was G3 winner at Monmouth Park. He stood in Western Australian but died after just four seasons at Rosa Park Stud.
Slade Bloodstock bought Hushrose for $56,000 at the 2007 Gold Coast Magic Millions Summer yearling sale.
