Ididit (NZ) targets Taranaki Breeders Stakes

Matamata trainer Graham Richardson is convinced his lightly-raced mare Ididit (NZ) can increase her residual value with a black-type victory this season.

Ididit (5m Ustinov – Winds Of Conquest by Quest For Fame) improved her record to 5 wins in 14 starts with a stylish victory at Pukekohe on Saturday.  It was her final lead-up into the G3 Taranaki Breeders Stakes (1400m) at Hawera on October 12.

“I was in two minds whether to start her on Saturday as the track was wetter than she usually likes but she needed the race,” said Richardson.  “She goes well fresh so we rolled the dice and ran which proved to be the right thing to do.

“She has come through the race really well so once she has had a couple of quiet days to fully recover we will start to get her ready for the Group 3 as I think it will fit beautifully into her schedule.

“I’m dead keen to get some black-type with her as I know her owners are looking to breed from her at the end of her career and she definitely has the talent to achieve that goal.”

Ididit is owned by Ray Coupland and the Dowager Duchess of Bedford.  “Ray would like her to run in the Couplands Bakeries Mile at Riccarton in November,” Richardson said.  “She will sneak into the field with a nice light weight and would definitely be competitive.”

Locally trained mare Sarsarun completed a double for Ustinov at Pukekohe on Saturday in the LR Karaka Classic (1600m).  She is the third stakes winner for her sire among 104 individual winners of 167 races.

Ustinov (USA) is a son of Seeking The Gold and Australian Hall of Fame mare Let’s Elope.  He was a G2 winner of the AAMI Vase at Moonee Valley and stands for a $4,400 (inc gst) fee at Moorookyle Park in Victoria.
