Inglis launches 2015 Melbourne Premier

The 2015 edition of the champion-making Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale is online.

A total of 782 yearlings have been catalogued over four sessions from Sunday, March 1 to Wednesday, March 4.  Previous graduates from the Oaklands complex include Black Caviar, Fawkner, Trust In A Gust, Sacred Kingdom and Snitzerland.

“Inglis Premier has a proven record for unearthing champions and with the quality of the yearlings catalogued next year, I have no doubt that success will continue,” Inglis director Peter Heagney said.  “Premier has already produced two World Champion Sprinters as well as Horse of the Year winners in Australia, Hong Kong and South Africa.

“The sale is ideally placed between the Blue Diamond Stakes and Australian Guineas meetings ensuring the week will be a feast of thoroughbred action for all racing and breeding enthusiasts.”

Fawkner was a $70,000 purchase for Nick and Lloyd Williams from the draft of Mill Park.  The dual Group 1 winning son of Reset has netted $3.4 million.

Trust In A Gust has amassed over $1 million in earnings including two Group 1 victories in the spring.  That’s a great return on the colt’s $45,000 price tag when purchased by Darren Weir Racing from the draft of Swettenham Stud.

Sacred Kingdom was a $200,000 Inglis Premier buy from Kornong Stud by Hong Kong trainer Ricky Yiu.  The World Champion Sprinter son of Encosta de Lago is one of the best and most durable gallopers Asia has ever seen, winning 17 races for HK$45.83 million.

The Group 1 VRC Lightning Stakes has been the happy hunting ground for Inglis Premier graduates – Black Caviar won three in a row prior to Snitzerland claiming the 2014 edition.

Snitzerland a $125,000 buy from Bellerive Stud’s draft in Melbourne, won $1.9million on the racetrack as a Group winner at two, three and four-years-of -age.

Black Caviar was undefeated in 25 race starts including 15 at Group 1 level for $5 million in earnings.  The three-time Australian Racehorse of the Year was a $210,000 purchase by Peter Moody from the draft of Swettenham Stud (as agent) for Gilgai Farm.
