Inglis Melbourne Premier – Darley sires Rewarded

Darley stallions have provided numerous stakes winners from the Inglis Melbourne Premier in recent years and there’s bound to be lots more black-type graduates out of the 2010 catalogue.

The 2008 sale included G1 Blue Diamond winner Reward For Effort (Exceed And Excel), G2 winner Set For Fame (Reset) and G3 winner Shamoline Warrior (Shamardal).

Last year’s graduates include Run For Wilson (Shamardal) who can parlay his Group 3 AJC Breeders’ Plate victory into a Group 2 when he starts in the STC Silver Slipper this Saturday.

Darley’s Northwood Park-based Gonski has 10 first-crop yearlings catalogued for Oaklands Junction.  A stakes-winning son of Danehill, his entrants include a filly from Victory River (Salieri) that received a significant update last Sunday.

Parading as Lot 714 as part of the Supreme Thoroughbreds draft, she is a three-quarter sister to the dam of Listed Tasmanian Oaks winner Coulis (Zabeel).  Her immediate family also includes G1 Oakleigh Plate winner Reactive (Geiger Counter).

Fellow Darley sire Nadeem is also represented by his first yearlings at Oaklands Junction.  The G1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner is a son of emerging sire of sires Redoute’s Choice and he has four colts and five fillies for sale.

The Nadeem filly from Endless Charm (Lot 122) is out of a winning half-sister to G2 Tristarc Stakes winner Infinite Grace.  She will sell under the Phoenix Broodmare Farm banner and is also closely related to Cox Plate hero Fields Of Omagh.

Darley sire Lonhro and Exceed And Excel dominate the Australian second-season sires’ premiership and they will be represented with 13 yearlings apiece.

South Australian nursery Mill Park Stud has a quality draft which includes an Exceed And Excel – Glory Be colt (Lot 154).  The dam earned black-type in Adelaide and she a half-sister to the stakes winners Excited Angel, Typhoon and Prayerful.

One of Lonhro’s most admired yearlings at the sale is sure to be the Makybe colt from G3 Sweet Embrace Stakes winner Legally Bay (Lot 222).  The Snippets mare is the dam of Lindsay Park colt Legalistic who won on debut by seven lengths at Sale on February 7.

The progeny of Darley’s unbeaten Zabeel stallion Reset will also be popular after his filly Set For Fame won the G2 Angus Armanasco Stakes at Caulfield last Saturday.

Rubiton Bloodstock’s Reset – Great Manners filly (Lot 163) is a half-sister to Great Glen who was a Group winner in Melbourne and Adelaide before transferring to Hong Kong.

No mention of the Darley crew would be complete without updating the deeds of champion sire Commands.  He currently heads the Australian winners’ list (102) by a big margin from Testa Rossa and Redoute’s Choice who are both on 86.

The first Commands to go under the hammer at the Melbourne Premier is his colt from G1 Coolmore Classic winner Chlorophyll.  Parading as Lot 48, he is being offered by Eliza Park.
