Ishiguru has suffered a minor paddock accident at Tweenhills Farm in England and will not be shuttling to Chequers Stud in NZ this year.
Ishiguru (Danzig) stood one season at stud in Australia in 2003 and his first crop of Kiwi bred two year-olds made a promising start this season headed by Geeza who captured G3 Cambridge Breeders’ Stakes.
His first crop northern hemisphere included the 2006 Royal Ascot Coventry Stakes (G2) winner Hellvelyn.
“We had conflicting veterinary reports on whether it was in Ishiguru’s best interests to travel,” studmaster Chris Campin reported. “It was decided to err on the side of caution. This was shaping up to be his best quality book of mares to date and it is a real shame.”
Plans are for Ishiguru to return to Chequers Stud again next year.
