Trainer John Oxx has once again played down speculation of an impending purchase of last Saturday’s G1 Eclipse Stakes winner Sea The Stars by Sheikh Mohammed. Godolphin’s advisers have twice inspected the champion colt who is estimated to be worth upwards of AUD 85 million.
Godolphin has continued to shore up the ranks of its Blue Army with the purchase of Group 1 three year-old Delegator last week. Owner-breeder Poilin Good sold Delegator for an undisclosed sum last weekend.
The Dansili colt won the G3 Craven Stakes at Newmarket in April before finishing runner-up to Sea the Stars (Cape Cross) in the G1 English 2000 Guineas and Mastercraftsman (Danehill Dancer) in the G1 St James’s Palace Stakes.
Godolphin also secured Evasive (Elusive Quality) last week. The Cheveley Park Stud homebred won the G3 Horris Hill Stakes earlier this year.
The latest buys come soon after Sheikh Mohammed’s operation purchased brilliant American filly Jealous Again. The G2 Queen Mary Stakes winner has been shipped back to England where she will be prepared for upcoming stakes.
