Investor’s Dream sires first winner in WA

Investor’s Dream sired his first winner when Stoppitt scored a promising victory at Pinjarra on Thursday.

Stoppitt (3g Investor’s Dream – Russian Beauty by Red Eye Special) was the $4.20 favourite in the Wayne’s Carpet Cleaning Maiden (1300m) and he came home a three-length winner under Shaun O’Donnell.

The winner was racing second-up after a 10 month spell for part-owner and trainer Brett Pope.  He was a $3,500 buy out of the 2008 Perth Magic Millions Autumn yearling sale when offered by Cromartry Park.

He is a first-crop runner for Investor’s Dream who got him from an unraced daughter of Russian Gold (Todson).  She was a great money-spinner for Ascot trainer Eric Denning in the 1980s.  A pocket-rocket, Russian Gold was only small but was all heart winning 8 sprints in Perth to Listed level.

Investor’s Dream is by Kentucky Derby winner Spend A Buck and was the Champion 2yo Colt of his generation in Brazil.  He won at Group 1 level in the Juliano Martins over 1600m and was also a G2 winner in the Antenor Lara Campos over 1100m.

Cromartry Park owner Olga McKenzie believes Investor’s Dream can sire more than his fair share of winners but lack of numbers has stymied the progress of his first crop.

Westspeed breeders didn’t embrace the foreign sireline or formline and, as a result, he is starting behind the eight-ball.  But it’s amazing how a good horse can kick-start a stallion’s career and Stoppitt certainly has plenty of ability.

He had lots of excuses first-up at Pinjarra on October 18 when fourth to Easy Rider over 1000m.  O’Donnell had a handful of horse that day after he blew the start then over-raced all the way down the straight.

Stoppitt was as green as grass fresh but was much better behaved yesterday.  He tracked the leaders Lady Beldon and Wildwood and then sprinted clear to a convincing victory.  He looks city material on that performance.

Investor’s Dream stands for $3,500 service fee on the Cromartry Stud roster that comprises Redoutable (Redoute’s Choice), Seinne (Hussonet) and Lords A Leaping (Zabeel).
