It’s A Dundeel targets Cox Plate

Sydney Triple Crown winner It’s A Dundeel (NZ) has returned to the Cambridge stables of Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman following a spell nearby at Henley Park.

“He looks very well,” said Forsman  “The Cox Plate is the main target and he will have three runs before going to Moonee Valley.”

It’s a Dundeel (3c High Chaparral – Stareel by Zabeel) has won 8 of his 12 starts for earnings of $2.70 million.  “Those three lead-ups will all be in Australia.  We are trying not to look too far ahead of ourselves but they’re our main plans.”

It’s a Dundeel captured the G1 Spring Champion Stakes last September and returned in the autumn for explosive wins in the G1 Randwick Guineas and G1 Rosehill Guineas.  He then became the just the fifth horse to claim Sydney’s 3YO Triple Crown when easily taking out the Australian Derby on April 13.

He is by former Windsor Park shuttler High Chaparral and is one of five winners from Stareel.  Second dam Staring (Fiesta Star) was trained by Max Baker to a G1 victory in the 1992 NZ Oaks.
