NZ Horse of the Year Jimmy Choux has arrived at Rich Hill Stud in readiness for his first book of mares.
Jimmy Choux (4h Thorn Park – Cierzo by Centaine) will stand for a $10,000 service fee alongside Pentire, Shocking and Any Suggestion.
“We all know he was a champion racehorse and to see him in the flesh it’s no wonder,” Rich Hill’s John Thompson said on Thursday. “He stands 16.1 hands and has a lovely athletic body with a great shoulder complimented by a fluent action.
“Breeding to a stallion that has won five Group 1 races in Australasia is a rarity and a privilege. He was the ‘People’s Champion’ and is priced for access by all breeders.”
Jimmy Choux was trained throughout his career at Hastings by John Bary and posted 12 wins from 26 starts for earnings over $NZ3.62 million.
He completed the G1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas – Derby double and carried on his stellar three year-old form in Sydney with at G1 victory in the Rosehill Guineas.
Jimmy Choux returned as a four-year-old to claim the G1 Windsor Park Plate and G1 Spring Classic and then crossed the Tasman again beat all bar Pinker Pinker in the G1 Cox Plate.
“He’s by a champion sire out of a mare by a champion broodmare sire and he has four lines of Star Kingdom in his first six generations,” Thompson added. “He was an outstanding racehorse and has got absolutely everything in his favour to make a successful stallion.”
