Champion South African sprinter JJ The Jet Plane is back in England to quarantine for the Hong Kong International Sprint at Sha Tin on December 12.
JJ The Jet Plane (Jet Master) is scheduled to arrive in Hong Kong about three weeks before the big race according to trainer Lucky Houdalakis. `”That will give us plenty of time to get him ready,” Houdalakis claimed. “Luckily, he doesn’t take much work.”
JJ The Jet Plane returned home to South Africa earlier this year following an international campaign with Mike de Kock and Richard Hannon. He won races in Dubai and England and placed in events like the Golden Jubilee Stakes and Darley July Cup.
He thrilled his South African fans by making a winning comeback in the G1 Golden Horseshoe and G1 Mercury Sprint before a decision was taken to send the six-year-old overseas again.
JJ The Jet Plane is set to take on a hot field of sprinters in Hong Kong including Singapore-based star Rocket Man but Houdalakis is not worried about the strength of the opposition.
“I’m sure there are horses better than Rocket Man around like Sacred Kingdom,” Houdalakis said. “He defeated Rocket Man in the KrisFlyer Sprint but we beat Sacred Kingdom home in the Golden Jubilee at Ascot last year,’’ he said. “Just on that, you’ve got to take your chances.’’
After Hong Kong, there are several options for JJ The Jet Plane starting with the Dubai carnival. Houdalakis will then weigh up whether to go to Singapore for the KrisFlyer Sprint before returning the England.
